Knights Race Past Cross-State Rival Johnson State
The Men’s Basketball Team extended their opening season run to four consecutive victories by pasting VSC rival Johnson State College, 80-57, on Johnson’s home court. Four Knights scored in double figures. Kevin Carr led the team with 22 points, Nick Simpson had 21 points, point guard Alex Tyrrell added 18 points and freshman post player Josh Lindsey chipped in with 13 points.
The Knights led the entire game, jumping to a 10-2 lead at the outset. The lead was extended to 20 points at halftime. After the halftime break, the Knights came out strong and built the lead to 30 points.
“I was really pleased with our defensive performance this evening,” said Coach John Dyer after the game. “We knew Johnson State likes to penetrate in their dribble-drive offense and we concentrated on plugging the lane. I also liked the way we shared the ball tonight. Everyone made the extra pass.”
