The Vermont Tech Rope Tow is an old fashioned rope tow powered by an electric engine. Skiers and Boarders grab the rope and are pulled to the top. Thanks to our Ski & Ride Club, new rails have been installed for the upcoming season.

Students in the Construction Management program built us a new warming hut in 2014, thanks to the guidance of Vermont Tech professor Joe Witt.

The rope tow is located at the bottom of Water Street next to the VTC Farm. Water Street is the road that goes down-hill across from the white church on the south west corner of campus.

Rail jam #1 – postponed

VTC Winter Carnival – Feb 9th

Rail jam #2 – Feb 16th

Rail jam #3 - March 2nd

Rail jam # 4 - March 16th (Weather Permitting)

All VSC students are invited to visit us in Randolph Center, VT for a VSC Rail Jam series on our ski/ride hill at Vermont Tech.  We have several rails made by our students, and also expect to have jumps and other features ready.

We've partnered with Burton and Evolution Freeride/Out of Bounds Snowboards in Killington to assist with sponsoring prizes for our events.

All skiers and riders can come down just to ride the hill, or they can take part in the rail jam competition. VSC ID and waiver signature will be required for all students before they can use the rope tow. Leather gloves are recommended.

For the competition, skiers and riders will be judged throughout a 20 minute freeride session by guest judges from VTC, Burton, Evolution Freeride and Out of Bounds Snowboards.  Judges may be different for each event.  After the last rail jam event, season long champions will be crowned for both skiing and snowboarding with awesome prizes!

Each event will have the same schedule and format:

Rope tow opens               5:30pm

Open skiing and riding     5:30-9:00pm except during freeride comp

Ski competition                 7:00-7:20pm
