Women's basketball sweeps the weekend
This weekend the Vermont Tech Women's Basketball team sweep the weekend beating both Unity and Eastern Maine Community College. The Women's basketball teams' offensive and defensive performance keep them on top throughout both games.
On Saturday VTC had its home opener versus Unity College. It was a great warm-up and moral booster for the Lady Green Nights. The Lady Knights took a significantly large lead early and never looked back. Kelly Vellek lead the Lady Knights in scoring with 25 points and Eliza Wakefield added 14. Although the scoring was lead by Kelly Vellek and Eliza Wakefield it was the intense defense of the entire team that kept Unity at bay.
On Sunday the VTC Lady Knights carried their momentum into Sunday's game against Eastern Maine Community College. Eastern Maine CC came into Sunday's game with an undefeated record over the last five years against VTC. However, that was to change on Sunday. At tip off the Lady Knights took a 10-0 lead over Eastern Maine and never looked back. The VTC squad played intense defense and was able to overcome Eastern Maine's crippling half court trap to get its first win over Eastern Maine in five years. The Lady Knights scoring was lead by Kelly Vellek with 25 and Abby Fusco with 8.
