University of Maine at Fort Kent defeated the Vermont Tech men's basketball team 97-80 on Sunday afternoon in SHAPE Gym.
A slow start for the home team saw them behind 11 with 11 minutes to play in the half. an 18-5 run by the Knights gave them a 2 point lead with 4 minutes to play in the half. The Bengals responded with a 17-4 run to end the half and went into the break with a 49-38 led.
Hot shooting from the visitors made it hard for the Knights to gain much traction in the second half. The closet they would ge tit is 12 with 5 minutes to play. The vistors ran away with a 17 point win.
Defense was again a struggle for the Knights.
"We have to improved defensively", said Coach Tyrrell. "We are giving up way to many points lately and the are easy things for the offense. We are lucky to have a hit of practice this week to be able to address som eof these concerns".
Eric Montanez led the Knights with 24 points. Jeremiah Shaw added 17.
