KNIGHTS FALL IN MATCHUP AGAINST NORTH COUNTRY
The Vermont State University Randolph women's basketball team battled through a physical and fast-paced contest on Sunday, ultimately coming up short in a 63–29 loss to North Country Community College. Despite the final score, the Knights showed grit on the defensive end and continued to compete until the final buzzer.
Marielle Benoit once again led the offensive effort for Randolph, finishing with 16 points, 7 rebounds, and 1 block while going 6-of-8 from the free-throw line. Benoit remained aggressive throughout, drawing contact, attacking the rim, and anchoring the Knights' scoring.
Veteran guard Jasmine Mooney added 8 points, 6 rebounds, and 1 steal, providing steady presence and ball-handling against North Country's pressure. Nia Edwards contributed 5 points on efficient shooting, helping spark the Knights in stretches during the second half.
Defensively, Randolph paint defense collasped against North Country. Although,Kallista Tyler and Lily Kalakay combining for 6 steals and active perimeter defense. However, North Country capitalized behind strong shooting performances, including 19 points from Dawn Smith and 15 from Chloe LaBelle.
While the Knights continue to navigate a challenging early-season slate, the team's competitive spirit and individual growth were evident throughout the matchup. VTSU Randolph looks to regroup and carry its defensive intensity into the next contest as they push for improved execution and offensive rhythm.
