Vermont Tech held scoreless versus Southern Maine Community College

Vermont Tech softball team hit the field for the first time this season to take on the Seawolves of Southern Maine Community College. For the first day outside and on a field, Vermont Tech played well, but was no match for SMCC.

The Seawolves got on the scoreboard first in the second inning with two runs, but the inning was cut short, with a tag out at home starting out in Centerfield.  Jillian Withee of SMCC hit a single to Centerfield.  Vermont Tech's Jessica Guay (Fr. Underhill, VT) got the ball and threw it in to Jamie Allard at the cutoff (So. Irasburg, VT).  Allard received the ball and threw it perfectly to Sarah Sheperd (Fr. Warner, NH) who put the tag down on Shelby Moore from SMCC. 

Jamie Allard had two stolen bases for Vermont Tech and pitcher Abby Fusco (Jr. E. Montpelier, VT) took the 8-0 loss.  Abby faced 24 batters and had three strikeouts.
