Knights Struggle against SUNY Delhi
Vermont Tech 0, SUNY Delhi 5
The Knights were out played in Sunday's contest against SUNY Delhi. The Broncos gave themselves and early lead when communication in the back for the Knights allowed for SUNY Delhi's Jacob Zinkievich alone in the 6 yard box who calmly brought a ball down and struck it pass the Knights goalkeeper Scott Durkee (Chelsea, VT).
Ten Minutes later, the Broncos would give themselves a 2-0 lead when Trevor Holdridge would punish the Knight after another defensive breakdown. The Broncos took a 3-0 lead into half when Joseph Vazquez received a penetrating ball from Christian Quinde and slipped it past the diving Durkee catching the back post and redirected into the net.
The Knights started the 2nd half in much better form and created a few early opportunities. It just was not the Knights afternoon as they could not find the back of the net for the entire 2nd half. The Broncos would find themselves scoring two more opportunities in the 2nd half, the 1st by Joseph O'Halloran and the 2nd of the half by Tyler Mead. The Broncos would travel back to SUNY Delhi with a 5-0 victory over the Knights. Scott Durkee (Chelsea, VT) had seven saves on twelve shots for the Knights.
The Knights look to turn the page and start a new chapter this Tuesday as the host conference rival NHTI. The Knights look to stay perfect in their division and continue to build towards their season goals. You can catch the game this Tuesday at 4pm on the campus of Vermont Tech.
