Women's Soccer goes down at home in tight match

Randolph Center, VT -

Vermont Tech women's soccer team played an even match against Central Maine CC yesterday, despite losing the game 2-1.  Play was evenly matched on the Knight's home pitch, as possession change and shots were peppered at both goalies throughout the match. The Knights were edged out in shots in the first half 8-5, while in the second half the teams were even with 4 apiece.

In the 65th minute, Senior Sierra Favreau hit a shot off the post that would have put the Knights in the lead, but the Mustangs were able to clear out the rebuond. About 10 minutes later, the Knights were unsusseccful clearing a free kick created by an offsides ruling, and Central Maine was able to take advantage of this error and get one in the back of the net.  The  Knights kept up the pressure in the last 15 minutes of the game, but couldn't get that tying goal before time was out.

Coach Grimes indicated "The ladies played really well today. We were making our passes and our game plan was solid. I am looking forward to the imrpovement in possession and goal scoring that I know this team is capable of."

The Knights play this Saturday at 1pm for Homecoming vs Paul Smith's College.
