Women's soccer falls at homecoming

Randolph Center, VT - The Vermont Tech Knights hosted the Paul Smith Bobcats for our Alumni weekend game.  The Knights and Bobcats played a fairly even first half with the Bobcats out shooting the Knights 14-2 but the score remained 0-0 at half time.  Good defensive play by Quatie Hayden, Austen LaFrance, Isabella Bortlein, Brooke Boudreau and solid goalie play by Paige Perkins kept the ball out of the VTC net.  VTC's offensive side saw a few opportunities in the first half with shots from Quatie Hayden and Kirstin Ward.

The second half belonged to the Bobcats.  They settled down and got better scoring opportunities in the second half and finished their chances.  The Bobcats out shot the Knights 18-4 in the second half.  VTC got 4 shots in the second half and did a better job working the ball up the field to our outside midfielders Ashley Megrath and Ashley Forrest who then found our strikers up top.  Coach Grimes said,"The Bobcats were able to finish their chances in the 2nd half.  VTC had a strong first half keeping them out of our goal and had some solid possessions moving the ball forward and getting shots on goal.  A couple of our players were making their debut for VTC today.  Madison Distel and Brooke Boudreau showed up and were able to play the whole game and giving us the opportunity to have subs on a really hot day.  We worked hard the whole game but we couldn't find the back of the net."

The Knights meet the Maine Machias Clippers next at home on Sept. 30th at 2pm.
