Canton, NY- The Vermont Tech Green Knights struggled in their season opener with a slow start ina 4-0 loss to SUNY Canton on Sunday afternoon.
The Green Knights (0-1) were able to recover towards the end of the first half and pressure The Roos. Late in the first half Cassie Ross (Barre, VT) took a shot that deflected off the post and was eventually was cleared by the Roos defense. Vermont Tech was also able to create additional offensive opportunities in the second half, by generating 4 corner kicks and keeping up the pressure on the Roos, but it was just not enough to get on the scoreboard.
The Roos final goal came with just under 10 minutes to play as Katie Lamica played a ball up the right side to Goolden, who had a well struck shot across the face of goal that deflected off Vermont Tech keeper Laura Flint (Highgate, VT) and into the goal.
