JOHNSON, Vt. – The Lady Knights hold on to beat NCAA Division III opponent NVU-Johnson 81-72 the Northern Vermont University Classic. Lady Knights move to 1-2. VTC junior guard, Jordanna Morris led all scorers with 38 points 12 rebounds 8 steals 3 assists.
The teams traded baskets in the early minutes of the quarter before the Lady Knights extended their lead to seven points. NVU-Johnson fought back and closed the gap to 20-17 in favor of the Lady Knights entering the second quarter.
VTC went on a quick 8-0 run to start the second half, led by Jordanna Morris. NVU-Johnson fought back but it was all VTC through the rest of the first half as they extended their lead to 39-27 at the half.
Vermont Tech extended their lead to 18 early in the third quarter before the Badgers battled back in a balanced effort and went on a 14-8 run to close the quarter. The Lady Knights held a nine-point lead heading into the fourth quarter.
Johnson continued to chip away at the Lady Knights lead, receiving contributions from Ellery Kiefer and Kaitlyn Brouard put the Badgers within one point. The VTC's Jojo Morris took over the game and put up 11 points in the final five minutes of play in her 38 point performance. The Lady Knights emerged with their first victory of the season, 81-72.
