Vermont Technical College - The women's basketball team is on a roll in Feburary, just in time for post-season play. In 3 of their last 5 games the VTC women's basketball team has won handily, followed by a very close loss in the last home game of the regular season.
The Knights played at home agains Paul Smiths College on Feb 3rd, and took the win hadily 73-37. In this game, Kiana Royer (SO, Barton VT) put up 16 points and 9 rebounds and 4 steals, nearly reaching a double double. She was followed closely by Xzavia Berry (FR, Bristol, VT), who came of the bench to score 14 points and grab 5 rebounds, and 2 steals. Mariah Rilling (SO, Randolph, VT) also scored in the double digits with 12 points, while Madalyn Leggett (FR, Milton, VT) and Olivia Reynolds (SO, Alburgh, VT) both had 8 points.
The Knights then played a recheduled game against Hampshire College and won with one of the highest point totals by a women's team 81-22. Kiana Royer and Mariah Rilling lit up the floor, scoring 18 and 17 points respectively, followed by Xzavia Beery with 12. All players in this game scored points!
After traveling to Maine and losing to SOunterh Maine in a relatively close game 60-77, the Knights went to Green Mountain College, and had a stellar performace, winning 61-45. Coach Jamie Paterson said of the team "they are really coming together at the right time. They played really tough defense, and kept up the offensive pressure. If the continue to play like this, we can make it to the semi-finals in the conference tournament next week". In this game it was Mariah Rilling taking the point, scoring a whopping 22 points inthe game. Kiana Royer also nearly had a double double, with 11 points and 9 rebounds.
