Women's Basketball Four Players honored at Convocation

Randolph Center, VT- On Thursday April 15, 2016 10 Student-Athletes were honored with 22 Academic and athletic awards at the Seventh Annual Convocation Ceremony held in Judd Hall. 

Senior Kristi Denko (Proctor, VT) who is also a member of the Women's Soccer team was awarded two academic awards for her accomplishment in the classroom. Denko was awarded the Faculty Assembly award for her great contribution to student activities. Denko is a peer tutor, a resident advisor, President of the Construction Management Club and a member of the Student Events Board. Denko was also awarded the Construction Management Bachelor's Degree Greatest Academic Development Award. Denko will graduate this spring with a Bachelor of Science in Construction Management.

Sophomore Katie Thygesen (Barre, VT) was this year's recipient of the Female Scholar Athlete of the Year which is presented to the female athlete who holds the highest GPA amongst varsity sports participants. Thygesen is a first year student in the Dental Hygiene program and was also honored for her achievements by making the USCAA Academic All-American team. 
Junior Shana Linwood-McLaughlin (Cayman Island) was this year's recipient for the Angus Murray Award, which is presented to a student-athlete who demonstrated selfless dedication to Vermont Tech athletic program. 
Freshman Madison Distel (Tunbridge,VT) was honored by joining the National Honors Society Phi Theta Kappa for her academic achievements in the classroom.
