LYNDON CENTER, Vt. — The Vermont Tech men's cross country team ran to a ninth place finish Saturday at the Vermont State Championships hosted by Lyndon State College. NCAA Division III power Middlebury College won the meet with a cumulative 25 points, while host Lyndon collected 48 points to come in second and Norwich University came in third with 100 points.
The Knights were led home by Freshman Anthony Putvain (Craftsbury, VT) who finished the 8K course in 36:17. Second for Vermont Tech was Nicholas Martiros (So./Rutland, VT) who ran the distance in 37:07, while Sophomore Ryan Follensbee finished third on the team in 37:54.
In the women's race, Middlebury again took top honors with 15 points, St. Michael's College placed second with 50 points and Green Mountain College took third with 114 points.
The Knights had two runners competing on the day. Brittney Osborne (So./ Colchester, VT) finished better of the two, completing the 5K in 30:27, while Freshman Serena Reynolds (Alburgh, VT)
