53 percent shooting for the game was the catalyst to a 96-73 win for the Vermont Tech Men's Basketball team, in a Yankee Conference quarter final match-up againt Paul Smiths College.
The Men jumped out to a 4-0 lead forcing the visitors into a quick timeout. A Dajuan Johnson three gave the home team a 11-6 edge with 14:58 to play in the half. The Bobcats repsonded with a 12-3 run, capped by a David Harris layup. The Knights went on a run of their own, going 17-0 over the next four minutes to take a 31-18 advantage. At the half the Knights led 42-33.
With 11:50 to play in the second half, a Drake Perry three, followed by a Eric Montanez layup, and then another Drake Perry three, gave the Knights a 20 point lead. They would not look back from here a took home a 96-73 win.
Head Coach Alex Tyrrell thought his group played well.
"We had to make a few adjustments today, and the guys did a great job of excuting quickly after the changes", said Coach Tyrrell. "We really shot the ball well, particularly in the second half, but our shot quality was high as well. Adding Drake and Eric back these past few weeks has changed a few things for us and now we are settling into everything again. I like were we are at right now going into the Final Four weekend."
The Knights now head to Central Maine for the Yankee Conference Final Four. They will take on Southern Maine in the semi final, next Saturday, February 23, at 8 p.m.
