On Saturday afternoon the Vermont Tech men's basketball team defeated the Moose from the University of Maine - Augusta 87-71.
In the first half the Knights jumped out to an early 13 point lead. They continued there fine offensive form from the day prior against the Mustangs. The Moose were not deterred, and battled back to cut the lead to five at the break.
The home team again jumped out to an early advantage inteh second half, this time leading by 16 with 14 minutes to play. Dustin Simpson-Bragg, and Alex LaFountain with led the Moose back to only be down four points just two minutes later. The Knights held on however, and took the game 87-71.
Playing their fifth game in nine days, Coach Tyrrell was happy to come away with the win.
"UMA always play us tough", said Coach Tyrrell. "The score line doesn't always show the effort needed to win the game. I was proud of the guys especially in the second half. We made some adjustments and finished strong".
The Knights improve to 15-6 overall and 8-2 in conference play. They will travel to NHTI on Tuesday, January 22 to face off with the Lynx. Tip is at 8 p.m.
