On Saturday morning the Vermont Tech men's basketball team travelled to Portland, Maine for a YSCC match-up against Southern Maine. The Seawolves were able for pull away for a 96-85 win.
With the loss the Knights fall to 9-4 overall, and 5-2 in conference play.
The first half was a tight contest with multiple lead changes. The Knights struggled to get consistent stop giving up over 50 percent from the field and 50 percent from three. The home team went to the break up 44-39.
The Knights made the first run of the half an tied the game at 48-48 with 16 minutes to go. Points were a plenty in the second half, but again the Knights stuggled to defend. The seaswolves were able to shoot 60 percent fromt he floor, and again 50 percent from three.
Coach Tyrrell was not pleased with his teams defensive game.
"We made to many errors early defensively", said Coach Tyrrell. "SM have a lot of movement and screening. You have to play really solid defense consistently, otherwise the get great looks. They have talented guys."
