On Wednesday night the Vermont Tech men's basketball team defeated College of St. Joseph's - Rutland 127-102. After only scoring 61 points in their last outing, the Knights exploded offensively, shooting 60 percent from the field and 50 percent from three.
The Knights and the Saints traded baskets for much of the first half. As the half progressed the Knights were able to stretch their lead. Mickolas Snowden, for the visitors, had a big first half with 23 points. At the break the Knights led 64-47.
Tyrone Hilson, who had 20 points for the home team in the first half, continue his fine offenisve play. Back to back three's by the Senior gave the Knights a 32 point lead with 13 minutes to play.
Coach Tyrrell was pleased to see his group make needed improvements on the offensive end.
"We got great quality of shots tonight", said Coach Tyrrell. "We made and the right offensive decision consistently. We have a lot of offensive talent and the guys are just starting to see our offensive potential".
The Knights were led by Tyrone Hilson with 40 points, 12 rebound, and 6 assists. Five other guys scored in double -figures.
With the win the Knights improve to 9-3 overall. They travel to Portland, Maine this Saturday for a YSCC matchup with Southern Maine.
