On Wednesday night the Vermont Tech Men's Basketball team was defeated by the Lynx of NHTI 90-82 in a YSCC conference matchup.
Knights started out all guns blazing in the first half with an 8-0 run, and then followed it up with 11-3 run. They lead by 15 with 8 minutes to play in the first half. NHTI are averaging over 100 points a contest. They settled into the game and made a run of their own to end the half, cutting the lead to 6.
The Lynx shot out of the gate in the second half scoring the first 7 points. A made 3 by Drake Perry gave the Knights back the advatange 46-44 with 17 minutes to play. The Knights controlled the next 7 minutes and an Eric montanez layup gave them a 9 point advantage with 9 minutes to play. The Lynx ramped up there defensive intensity. This helped cut the Knights scoring to 6 points over the next 7 minutes and give them the led by 4 with two minutes to play. A few untimely turnover from the home team and made free throws by the vistors secured the game final score at 90-82.
Head Coach Alex Tyrrell saw some of the Knights best basketball of the season in this game.
"For portions of this game we played great offensive and defensive basketball", said coach Tyrrell. "NHTI are a dangerous team and can score very quickly. I thought the stretch in the second half where they defended harded, and we missed some shots, was the difference."
With the loss the Knights fall to 7-2. They next take on Unity College Saturday, December 1, at 3:00 p.m.
