Knights Add Guard From Virginia

Head Men's Basketball Coach Alex Tyrrell is pleased to announce the signing of James Butler. James is a 6'3" Guard from Granby High School in Norfolk, Virginia.

"James is an aggressive raw talent, that is still growing, both physically and basketball wise", said Coach Tyrrell. "We have really tried this year to recruit versatile offensive and defensive guys this year, and he really fits that mold. Plus he is high character, coachable kid. It was a great get for the program".

James will be studying Business Management and Technology at Vermont Tech.

James felt like his relationship he had built with Coach Tyrrell, and also that his AAU Coach has taken over the women's program, were big factors in his decision to commit to Vermont Tech.

"I chose Vermont Tech over some other offers mostly because of Coach Tyrrell", Butler said. "Coach stayed in contact with me through the process and explained to me what Vermont Tech has to offer. Coach Miller, the Head Women's coach also helped me along the way. I always try to remember, whenever you find yourself doubting how far you can go, just remember how far you have come".

The Knights are coming off a 20-13 season, which saw them return to the National Tournament for the first time in 5 years. For more information about the program please contact Coach Tyrrell at
