The Vermont Tech men's basketball coach Alex Tyrrell announces the signing of Jeremiah Shaw. The 6'3 Atlanta native comes to Vermont Tech from Summer Hill Prep.
A graduate from Mceachern High School Shaw never actually played High School basketball, just AAU in the summer. Football was his sport of choice in High School and that lead him to Jacksonville University for his first year of college.
"One of the things I admire most about Jeremiah's game is his High IQ", say Coach Tyrrell. "He is smart, hungry, and unselfish. We are very excited to have him apart of the program".
After leaving Jacksonville, he played one year of basketball at Chattahoochee Tech on a team that went 21-10, and as the season progressed he earned a starting spot in the second semester. Unfortunately the program ended the next year, which is what led him to Summer Hill with Chattahoochee Tech Coach, David Archer.
Summer Hill had a great season, with Shaw leading them to a 30-6 record, playing a tough schedule. He also led them in scoring with 17 points per game, while adding 5.2 rebounds a game.
"Jeremiah's basketball journey has not been easy. He has had to prove himself at every stop", Tyrrell added. "I can't wait to coach him and see the next jump in his game".
Jeremiah knew Vermont Tech was the place for him after he visited the college, and spent time with Coach Tyrrell and the team.
"After my visit to Vermont, a place a Southern Georgia boy like me has never been, Coach Alex really made me feel like Vermont Tech was a home away from home", said Shaw. "While knowing Atlanta is 1000+ miles away, that feeling was an extremely significant factor in my decision. Coach has great hopes for me and the future of Vermont Tech Basketball. I can't wait to see what the season brings to this new place I will call home".
The Knights are coming off a 20-13 season, which saw them return to the National Tournament for the first time in 5 years. For more information about the program please contact Coach Tyrrell at firstname.lastname@example.org
