Vermont Tech men's basketball team defeated SUNY Delhi 84-79 in overtime on Wednesday night.
The first half was a back and forth low scoring affair with both teams battling hard on the defense end. The Bronco were able to give themselves a 9 point lead going into half 36-27.
The second half started in a flurry as the teams exchanged three point shots. With 9 minutes to play Cameron Carter sunk a lay up to give the knights the lead 61-59.The visitors were not deterred and with two minutes to go they found themselves up 5. Down three with 29 seconds to play, the Knights were unable to get a quick 2 and with 11 seconds on the clock Carter tuck a three to tie the game. The knights got the next stop and forced overtime.
Head Coach Alex Tyrrell was pleased with the winning attitude the team had.
"We made a ton of errors tonight. You don't usually win too many game if you turn the ball over 27 times", Said Coach Tyrrell. "But it speaks to the winning attitude the team has down the stretch. They don't waver in their belief that they will win the game. Our bench and crowd did a great job of creating an atmosphere in the gym tonight as well. "
The men improve to 3-1 overall on the season. They will travel to Paul Smiths College this Sunday for a Yankee Conference matchup.
